This small collection of recent poems is an intimate meditation on the vastness of life lived in the awareness of its passing.

Of Late Light, the poet Jennifer Wallace (Paraclete Press) wrote: "Paulson's poems blur the distinction between the outer world of water, air, birds, trees, moss and light, and the inner world of breath, history, memory and security. They witness the beautiful in everything and show an unflinching acceptance of time passing, of illness and death, as well as the adequacies and inadequacies of language for conveying the richness of these experiences. For example: in a poem at first about a winter river, she then turns to Ukraine and the image of people in that war-torn land:

On the frozen shore
of a river, berries
hang like tears

the color of blood
returning from lungs
to the heart.

Lapidary in their elegance and precision, the poems are so well crafted that readers will find themselves stopping to catch their breath . . . Enjoy opening this collection, and in your encounter, you will be opened."
